Mayank Agarwal is the new Skipper of Punjab Kings. He is one of the leading run-getters for the team along with KL Rahul. He has scored 400+ runs in the last two seasons for Punjab Kings. This season he will open with Shikhar Dhawan as his new opening partner.
Before the mega auction of IPL 2022, the franchise retained only two players Mayank Agarwal and Arshdeep Singh for Rs 14 crore and Rs 4 crore respectively. Punjab kings entered IPL mega auction with the highest purse value of Rs 72 crores. And picked some really good players who are worth buying for huge amounts.
The major picks of Punjab kings include players like Shikhar Dhawan, Kagiso Rabada, Jonny Bairstow, Liam Livingstone, Odean Smith, and many more. The franchise was also successful in buying back their 2021 IPL star Shahrukh Khan.
After the franchise selected the star players of the T20 format. Mayank Agarwal believes that the franchise has assembled a squad that has the potential to win their maiden cup of IPL.
Mayank Agarwal said “I like to believe that we do have a cup-winning Squad and now it is upon us as players to use our skills under pressure and make sure what we can make out of it,”
Punjab Kings will start their IPL 2022 campaign on 27th March by clashing with Royal challengers Bangalore at the DY Patil stadium. Punjab fans are excited to see how their new team will perform this season.
