Faf du Plessis is all set to be the New Captain of RCB

New Captain of RCB: the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) is the only franchise that has not yet finalized a new captain ahead of the IPL 2022 season. The IPL 2022 season will soon start from 26^th March and the first match will be played between defending champions Chennai Super Kings and Kolkata Knight Rider.

The Royal Challengers Bangalore will play their first match of the season on 27^th March against Mayank Agarwal’s led Punjab Kings. But the question on every RCB fan’s mind is who will be the new Captain of RCB.

Now FAF du Plessis is all set to be the new Captain of RCB for the IPL 2022 season. The franchise management has called for a press conference on 12^th March at 4 Pm. To disclose the name of the new captain of RCB.

Australian all-rounder Glenn Maxwell and South African Opener FAF du Plessis were the two contenders for the new captain of RCB. But Royal Challengers Bangalore has decided to go with FAF du Plessis. The announcement is expected to be made at the press conference. RCB will also launch their new jersey in the same event.

Why FAF du Plessis over Maxwell as a New Captain of RCB?

Maxwell will be unavailable for the first three matches in IPL 2022 season went against him. Despite not being included in the white-ball series in the Australia tour of Pakistan. Cricket Australia obstructed all centrally contracted players to participate in IPL until 5^th April.

As a result former Chennai Super Kings opener FAF du Plessis got the chance ahead of Maxwell. The former South African captain has vast experience as a skipper. He has led his national team in all three formats including the world cup.

Faf du Plessis was the top run-scorer for MS Dhoni-led Chennai Super Kings in IPL 2021 final against Kolkata Knight Riders and was the shining star in CSK. Faf du Plessis will have a confirmed place in RCB’s Playing XI. As an opener and will take the responsibility of the skipper.
